President signs law he says he won’t use

Barack Obama welcomed the new year by signing the National Defense Authorization Act. The new law gives the president power to detain, indefinitely, any American citizen the government suspects of being “belligerent.” The president, however, promises he won’t use it.

          Watch Your Step

To protect a land that’s been blessed;
But things could get tense;
What’ll be our defense
When they place us all under arrest.
